I walked down 9th Avenue in Hell’s Kitchen which is home to a variety of restaurants and read the menus placed on the windows of all of the restaurants that were on that street. I selected Trattoria because the menu items were moderately priced and I found items on the menu that sounded good. I opted for the outdoor dining area because it was better lit than indoors and I wanted to photograph my food. Lively ivies crawling on the walls and ceiling can be seen in my photo. I ordered the spaghetti carbonara and it tasted like it was made with cream and not with eggs. I could quibble with it for not being authentic carbonara because of the lack of eggs but it delivered a silky smooth and flavorful pasta that was both delicious and indulgent. It was a bigger portion than I was comfortable with, but I ate the whole thing as I tend to do when I eat out. Since it didn’t contain any egg, I could have reheated it at home without it curdling so there was no excuse not to get a doggy bag. The price was reasonable, $22 for the pasta dish and I didn’t have to wait long to get my order after getting the bread with onion oil as a starter.
